The Academy Building was originally built in 1873. Designed by famous architect Andrew Jackson Warner, it is part of Rochester's Historic Downtown District. The Academy will be rehabilitated beginning the second semester of 2008, and will undergo yet another adaptive reuse. Previous uses of the building include the city's first school, the Municipal Court, the Board of Education, and private offices beginning in 1982. This time, the Academy will be converted to residential apartments and retail space, including an upscale eatery in the space formerly occupied by Edward's Restaurant. You may follow the progress of the project by looking at "Updates" and "News/Traikos in the News".
